You don’t need to stay in your own home town to check out a live band, and if you live in a small town you might not even have a venue for live music. Buy some tickets and hit the road to check out one of your favorite bands, even if they are playing a few hours away. You can always get a room and take a slow drive home the next day.
Meet Your Favorite Author
If you like to read, find out if one of your favorite authors is going to be coming to your state or your area so you can go meet them and get your favorite books autographed. Not your favorite author, but there is an author coming that writes in a genre you like, maybe you’ll find a new favorite author.
Experience Some Art
On a road trip art can be found in museums, in galleries, and even on the side of the road. Take some time to do some research on statues and other awe inspiring sites. You just might be inspired to be artistic when you get back home.
Experience Your Own State
No matter what state you live in, there is likely something to do within an hour or two drive. Why not take some time to do some research online to find out what there is to do near you. You might find some interesting festivals, a crazy roadside attraction or two, and maybe a new restaurant to try out.
Catch Some Comedy Or A Sport
Just like catching a music act, you could hit the road to the nearest comedy club. For example, if you’re touring around NYC, why not find a local comedy club nyc? You might even find a celebrity at the end of the mic! Comedy not your thing? If you’re into sports, go check out your favorite team.
For sports fan there are numerous choices, it just depends on what time of year it is on what sport is being played. If you have kids that play sports you could turn their away game into a fun road adventure.
